2 Cups S.R. Flour
2 Cups slightly crushed Corn Flakes
2 Tablespoons Cocoa
1 Cup Caster Sugar
4 Tablespoons Golden Syrup
4 Tablespoons Desiccated Coconut
1 Cup Icing Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cocoa
1 Teaspoon soft Butter
1 Tablespoon boiling water
Quarter Teaspoon Lemon Juice (more if needed to make a spreading consistency - water can be substituted for lemon juice if preferred)
100's & 1000's or Coconut for decoration **
Preheat oven to 180 degrees C (160 degrees fan-forced)
Grease a 24cm x 29cm laming tin and line with baking paper
Add the dry ingredients together and stir to combine
Melt the butter and golden syrup together in a small pot over low heat
Combine the wet mixture with the dry ingredients and stir until combined
Press the mixture into the pan and smooth/press down with a flat bottomed glass or the back of a metal spoon until it is smooth and flat
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. (the longer time will ensure give a crunchier slice, the shorter time will produce a chewier result)
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly in the tin.
Whilst the slice is cooling, make the icing.
TO MAKE THE ICING:
Sift the icing sugar and the cocoa and add the soft butter, lemon juice and water and mix well
Ice the slice and sprinkle with 100's & 1000's for the kids or ** coconut for the big kids
When the slice is almost cold and the icing has set, cut it into squares.
Be Warned - this slice will be very popular so maybe you will need to make a double quantity.
